Vietnam Petroleum Association Advances Organizational Restructuring in Preparation for New Term Congress

On July 16, 2026, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Petroleum Association (VPA) convened a working session with the South Central Highlands Petroleum Association. This strategic meeting aimed to assess the results of activities from the first half of 2026 and to discuss organizational orientation and implementation of key tasks in the coming period. Among these priorities, thorough preparation for the congresses of subordinate associations leading to the VPA's new term congress has been identified as the most critical undertaking.

Context and Significance of the Working Session

In the current landscape where Vietnam's petroleum industry faces numerous opportunities and challenges, strengthening organizational structures and preparing for the VPA's new term holds particularly significant importance. The working session between the Central VPA Committee and the South Central Highlands Petroleum Association was organized to create unity and coordination throughout the Association's organizational system, from central to local levels.

In his address at the meeting, the President of the Vietnam Petroleum Association emphasized: The Vietnam Petroleum Association must continue to promote its traditions, unite the entire industry, and make practical contributions to the sustainable development of Vietnam's petroleum sector and the nation as a whole. He also requested that local associations thoroughly prepare their contents to contribute to the success of the new term congress.

Evaluation of First-Half 2026 Activities

During the first half of 2026, the Vietnam Petroleum Association achieved numerous commendable results across various operational areas:

  • Developed 15 new association members, enhancing the quality of the member cadre
  • Formulated and completed three industry-level scientific proposals
  • Strengthened international cooperation with five petroleum organizations in the region and worldwide
  • Intensified publicity and knowledge dissemination about petroleum to the community

However, the Association's activities still face certain limitations that need to be addressed, such as the constrained involvement of private enterprises in the Association and the need to further enhance the application of information technology in management and operations.
