The official signing of the EPCI contract by PVEP Khanh My and Vietsovpetro for the Khanh My - Dam Doi field development project is not just a normal signing ceremony but a strategic turning point after more than 13 years of preparation, opening up a new gas supply source for the entire Southwest region.
This project is considered a new "energy lifeblood" to supplement gas sources for the Ca Mau Gas - Electricity - Fertilizer cluster, in the context that many existing mines are entering a period of output decline.
Khanh My - Dam Doi mine belongs to Block 46/13, located in the Malay - Tho Chu basin, about 205 km southwest of Ca Mau cape, at a water depth of about 53 meters.
All exploited gas will be connected to the existing PM3 CAA system to supply:
* Ca Mau 1 and 2 power plants
* Ca Mau Fertilizer Factory
* Industrial households in the Southwest region
Category Scale
Two of the wellhead platforms were uninhabited
20 inch air pipe
Pipeline length 29 km
PM3 CAA connection
Mining target End of 2027

1. Compensate for PM3 CAA gas decline
The PM3 CAA gas source is currently the backbone of the Ca Mau Gas - Power - Fertilizer cluster but is rapidly declining after 2027.
2. Ensure national energy security
New gas sources help maintain continuous operation of key power and fertilizer plants.
3. Optimize investment costs
The project takes advantage of existing infrastructure, significantly reducing costs compared to building a completely new system.
4. Affirming domestic capacity
From the investor, general contractor to manufacturing contractor, all are Vietnam's leading oil and gas enterprises.
