Thousands of robot arms are working overnight in "lightless factories" in China, Korea and many major manufacturing centers around the world. It is worth noting that the advantage of cheap labor - which has helped many Southeast Asian countries make a breakthrough - is gradually being erased by robots.
According to analysis from Bloomberg Businessweek Vietnam, robots are no longer a technology reserved for billion-dollar corporations. Rapidly falling robot prices, thriving industrial AI, and real-time operational data are causing global production models to change extremely rapidly.
China is currently installing about 295,000 new robots in 2024 alone, accounting for more than half of the world. Meanwhile, although Vietnam is leading the Southeast Asian robot market, it is still mainly in the role of "robot user" instead of mastering integrated technology.
The scariest thing is not robots 🤔
It is worth noting that robots do not just replace manual labor.
They are:
* change quality standards
* forcing the logistics chain to run at a higher speed
*Request real-time data
* Eliminate suppliers that are slow to adapt
A factory running 24/7 means:
* ingredients must arrive faster
* Logistics must be more accurate
* Error testing must be automated
* Every link must be digitized
If businesses don't automate quickly enough, they could be eliminated from global supply chains in just a few years.
Vietnam is standing at the "junction of life and death" 💥
For many years, Vietnam's biggest advantages have been:
* cheap labor
* location near China
* Electronic FDI increased sharply
But robots are completely changing that equation.
As robots get cheaper:
* China can retain the textile and garment industry
* The low-cost assembly industry is no longer easy to move
* robot productivity surpasses that of humans at large scales
That's why many experts believe that Vietnam must move from "cheap factories" to:
* system integration center
* Robotics technical center
* industrial software center
* smart supply chain
The opportunity is still huge 🌿
The positive point is that billions of dollars of electronic FDI are bringing the most advanced robotic systems to Vietnam.
Vietnamese businesses absolutely have the opportunity:
* learning robot integration
* Develop operating software
* Optimize smart logistics
* Build an ecosystem of robot technicians
* develop domestic industrial AI
In industries such as:
* food
* cold logistics
* logistics
* textile
* electronics
There is still a huge gap for Vietnamese businesses to thrive.
The problem is:
“Việt Nam sẽ làm chủ robot… hay chỉ đứng nhìn robot làm chủ chuỗi cung ứng?”
