A Chinese enterprise has just proposed investing in a large-scale waste power project in Quang Tri, with a generating capacity of 25 MW and the ability to process up to 1,000 tons of household waste per day. If implemented, this will be one of the most notable environmental and energy projects in the Central region.
Noteworthy Numbers
1️⃣ Power generation capacity: 25 MW
2️⃣ Garbage processing capacity: 1,000 tons/day
3️⃣ Estimated area: about 12 hectares
4️⃣ Annual processing output: about 365,000 tons of garbage
5️⃣ Operating time: over 8,000 hours/year
6️⃣ Construction time: about 20 months
Who is the Investor?
A joint venture between The Garden Vietnam Joint Stock Company and GrandTop Group (China) has proposed a project at the household waste treatment complex in Nam Trach commune, Quang Tri. The technology used is two mechanical grate furnaces with a capacity of 500 tons/day each, combined with a 25 MW steam turbine.
Why Is This Project Important?
♻️ Reduce Landfilling of Garbage
Currently, most of the local household waste is still treated by landfill. The waste power plant will help reduce environmental pressure and save land funds.
⚡ Generating Electricity From Trash
25 MW is enough to provide electricity for tens of thousands of households, while adding a stable source of renewable energy.
Promoting Circular Economy
Waste is no longer a burden but becomes a valuable resource.
TechnologyWhat's Special?
The investor said that the exhaust gas treatment system is designed with very strict standards, aiming for emission levels lower than EU 2010 standards, and can handle household waste without needing to completely classify it at source.
Economic and Social Impact
* Create jobs for local engineers and workers
* Improve living environment
* Increase investment attractiveness for the province
* Additional clean power source for the area
Conditions for Success
The Provincial People's Committee requires investors to continue to carefully survey input waste sources, evaluate technology and ensure there is no overlap with other ongoing waste treatment projects.
Strategic Perspective
If the project is approved and operated on schedule, Quang Tri will not only solve the waste problem but also take a big step forward on the journey of green and sustainable development.
From a ton of trash to a kilowatt of electricity – that's the future of the modern circular economy.
