Let's examine these key economic highlights in detail.

Public Investment Capital Disbursement Surpasses 245 Trillion VND

According to the latest report from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, as of mid-June 2023, disbursement of public investment capital has exceeded 245 trillion VND, equivalent to 35.5% of the annual plan. This figure demonstrates the efforts of ministries, sectors, and localities in accelerating capital disbursement, thereby contributing to economic growth.

Key priority projects such as the North-South East Expressway, Long Thanh International Airport, and renewable energy projects have been accelerated. The Ministry of Planning and Investment has stated it will continue to remove difficulties and obstacles to speed up disbursement progress in the remaining months of the year.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Cung, economic expert, commented: "The 35.5% disbursement rate of public investment capital is a positive signal. However, to achieve the annual target, we need to make greater efforts, especially for projects that have been delayed."

Over 52 Vietnamese Enterprises Suffer from Cyber Attacks

A new warning from the National Cybersecurity Center indicates that in June 2023, more than 52 enterprises in Vietnam have been affected by cyber attacks, causing estimated damages of hundreds of billions of VND. The attacks primarily targeted data systems, financial infrastructure, and information technology infrastructure.

Common attack methods include:

  • Ransomware
  • Phishing - impersonation to steal information
  • DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service)
  • SCADA system intrusions in manufacturing plants

Ms. Tran Thi Mai, cybersecurity expert, noted: "Vietnamese enterprises need to raise awareness about cybersecurity and invest more in protective solutions. The shortage of cybersecurity experts is a significant challenge."

In response to this situation, the Ministry of Public Security has recommended that enterprises increase employee training, regularly update security systems, and develop detailed incident response plans.

Aiming to Provide 100 Online Public Services for Land Procedures by 2026

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has recently announced a digital transformation plan for the land sector, with the goal of providing 100 level-4 online public services for land procedures by 2026. This is part of the national strategy for digital government transformation.

The public services to be provided include:

  • Issuance of Land Use Right Certificates
  • Land registration changes
  • Land information updates
  • Land subdivision and consolidation
  • Land valuation

Mr. Nguyen Van Bang, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, shared: "Digital transformation in the land sector will help reduce time and costs for people and businesses when carrying out administrative procedures related to land."

However, the biggest challenge in this process is connecting the national land database and ensuring the security of personal information of citizens.

Conclusion

The economic news from June 18 reflects the government's efforts to promote public investment, enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, and accelerate digital transformation. These policies are expected to contribute significantly to Vietnam's economic growth in the coming time.
