Vietsovpetro Launches Clean Beach Campaign to Promote Green Lifestyle
On the morning of June 20, 2026, at Chí Linh Beach in Rach Dua Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, the Youth Union and Environmental Health Department of Vietsovpetro Joint Venture, part of the Petrovietnam ecosystem, collaborated with the Rach Dua Ward Youth Union and the Petrovietnam College Youth Union to organize a beach cleanup campaign under the theme "Protecting the Marine Environment - Spreading a Green Lifestyle." This practical activity was part of the celebration of World Environment Day and Environmental Action Month 2026.
Event Details and Participating Organizations
The event brought together over 200 volunteers from various units: Vietsovpetro Youth Union, Environmental Health Department, Rach Dua Ward Youth Union, and Petrovietnam College Youth Union. The volunteers worked together to clean up waste at Chí Linh Beach area while simultaneously raising environmental awareness among tourists and local residents.
A representative of the Organizing Committee stated: "This activity goes beyond just cleaning the beach; it aims to enhance community awareness about marine environmental protection, reduce plastic waste, and spread a green lifestyle to all people, especially the younger generation."
Significance of the Campaign
The Chí Linh Beach cleanup campaign is one of the outstanding activities of Vietsovpetro within the framework of Petrovietnam Group's sustainable development program. Through this initiative, Vietsovpetro demonstrates its commitment not only in the oil and gas sector but also in environmental protection and sustainable community development.
Chí Linh Beach is one of the beautiful beaches of Ho Chi Minh City; however, in recent times, the situation of waste pollution, particularly plastic waste, has become increasingly serious, affecting the landscape and marine ecosystem.
Specific Activities During the Launch Event
During the launch event, volunteers were divided into small teams, with each team responsible for a specific area of the beach. The main activities included:
- Collecting waste on the beach, sorting recyclable and non-recyclable waste
- Conducting awareness campaigns and distributing leaflets about marine environmental protection to tourists and local residents
- Organizing interactive games about environmental protection for local children
- Conducting a quick survey on the waste pollution situation at the beach
The volunteers collected over 3 tons of waste, including approximately 1.5 tons of plastic waste. After collection, the waste was transported to the city's designated waste disposal sites for proper treatment.
Future Plans
Mr. Nguyen Van A - Secretary of the Vietsovpetro Youth Union shared: "We will continue to maintain and expand this model to other beaches in Ho Chi Minh City and other coastal provinces. Additionally, we are developing plans to cooperate with local authorities to implement long-term solutions to reduce waste entering the ocean."
In the coming time, Vietsovpetro will also launch the "Journey for the Marine Environment" program with many practical activities such as: artificial coral reef planting, organizing seminars on marine biodiversity conservation, and supporting local households to switch to using environmentally friendly bags.
