EVNNPT Supervises Progress of 500/220kV Nho Quan - Phu Ly - Thuy Tinh Power Transmission Line Project

On July 13, 2026, Mr. Hoàng Xuân Khôi - Acting General Director of the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) conducted a field inspection of the 500/220kV Nho Quan - Phu Ly - Thuy Tinh power transmission line project in Ninh Binh province. The inspection aimed to supervise the construction progress of pole erection and wire installation at the final positions of this important project.

Project Overview

The 500/220kV Nho Quan - Phu Ly - Thuy Tinh power transmission line project stands as one of the key initiatives in Vietnam's power sector, designed to enhance power transmission capacity, ensure energy security, and promote socio-economic development in Northern Vietnam. The project spans approximately 120 kilometers across the provinces of Ninh Binh, Ha Nam, and Hanoi City.

This large-scale investment project utilizes the most advanced power transmission technology, contributing to the modernization of the national power grid, reduction of energy losses, and improvement of system reliability.

Significance and Objectives

The completion of the 500/220kV Nho Quan - Phu Ly - Thuy Tinh power transmission line will address critical challenges in Northern Vietnam's power system:

  • Enhance power transmission capacity from hydropower plants in the North to the Central and Southern regions
  • Relieve pressure on existing transmission lines, ensuring operational safety
  • Improve power quality and reduce transmission losses
  • Ensure stable electricity supply for industrial zones, residential areas, and new development projects
  • Strengthen interregional connections, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development

Current Progress

During the field inspection, Mr. Hoàng Xuân Khôi - Acting General Director of EVNNPT highly commended the efforts of construction units in accelerating the project progress. According to reports, as of the current date, the project has completed approximately 95% of the total work:

Work Item% CompletionNotes
Foundation Construction100%Completed
Pole Installation98%Only final positions remaining
Wire Installation92%Concentrating on difficult positions
Substation Equipment95%Installation completed
Acceptance Testing85%Being conducted in parallel

Completion and Operation Schedule

According to the plan, the project will complete all remaining work and be commercially operational in Q3/2026. Specifically:

  • Complete wire installation and remaining work by August 2026
  • Finalize acceptance testing, trial operation in September 2026
  • Officially commence commercial operation in October 2026

Leadership Comments from EVNNPT

During the inspection, Mr. Hoàng Xuân Khôi - Acting General Director of EVNNPT emphasized: "The 500/220kV Nho Quan - Phu Ly - Thuy Tinh power transmission line project holds particular significance for the national power system. We require all construction units to concentrate intensively to complete the project on schedule, ensuring quality and absolute safety during construction."

Mr. Khôi also directed units to pay special attention to labor safety, environmental protection, and close coordination with local authorities to resolve emerging issues, ensuring the project is completed as planned.

Challenges and Solutions

Despite achieving significant progress, the project still faces several challenges:

  • Rainy season weather in the region may affect construction progress
  • Land acquisition issues in certain sections remain unresolved
  • Ensuring labor safety during construction at difficult positions

To address these challenges, EVNNPT has directed the following measures:

  • Increase manpower and equipment to accelerate progress
  • Strengthen coordination with local authorities to resolve emerging issues
  • Implement labor safety measures, especially at difficult construction sites
  • Proactively develop response plans for adverse weather conditions

Conclusion

The 500/220kV Nho Quan - Phu Ly - Thuy Tinh power transmission line project represents one of the most important initiatives in the current power sector development phase. Completing the project on schedule will significantly contribute to ensuring energy security, promoting socio-economic development, and improving power service quality for residents and businesses.

The direct guidance of EVNNPT leadership combined with the efforts of construction units promises that the project will be completed as scheduled, bringing practical benefits to the national power system and the country's economy.
