An offshore wind power project has just poured foundation concrete ahead of schedule. Is this a signal that the renewable energy race in Vietnam is heating up like never before?

Tan Thuan Wind Power Plant Project - Phase 3 in Ca Mau is becoming the focus of attention in the field of renewable energy when it officially enters the stage of pouring concrete for the turbine foundation - an item considered the "structural heart" of the entire offshore wind power system.

According to information from PECC2, phase 3 project has a capacity of 25MW with 4 large wind turbines of 6.25MW each, continuing the success of phases 1 and 2 that have been in commercial operation since 2021.

⚡ The most notable point lies in the speed of deployment

The foundation concrete pouring project was implemented earlier than planned
Construction in complex coastal conditions of Ca Mau
PECC2 takes on the role of comprehensive EPC General Contractor
The HSE system maintains 24/7 monitoring on the construction site

With the characteristics of offshore wind power, the turbine foundation is a structure that can withstand extremely large loads against ocean waves, strong winds and sea salt corrosion. Just a small error in pouring concrete or reinforcing steel can affect the life of the project for decades.

Project highlights

Category Information
Location Tan Thuan, Dam Doi, Ca Mau
Phase 3 capacity 25MW
Number of turbines 4 offshore turbines
Estimated electricity output ~61.5 millionu kWh/year
EPC general contractor PECC2
Operational target Q4/2026

What attracts many experts' attention is that this project not only has the meaning of generating electricity but also reflects the ability of Vietnamese enterprises to master offshore wind power EPC in the context of the booming green energy industry.

Ca Mau is currently considered one of the "coastal wind power capitals" thanks to its long coastline, stable wind speed and favorable coastal land fund for large-scale renewable energy clusters.

⚙️ When completed, phase 3 alone will add about 61.5 million kWh of clean electricity per year to the national grid.

While many energy projects in the world are behind schedule due to costs and supply chains, the acceleration of construction of an offshore project in Vietnam is creating many expectations for a new wave of wind power investment after Power Plan VIII.
